Smoothie today is green based- more vegetables, minimal fruit.
|Spinach Banana Smoothie
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup almond milk
2 tbs Greek yogurt
1 handful baby spinach
1/2 head romaine lettuce
1 Japanese cucumber
1 cup almond milk
|When mixed together, it looks like this!
Spinach: Packed with powerful nutrients and is an excellent source of folate, vitamin A, iron and vitamin K. High in minerals like magnesium, calcium and also fibre.
Low calorie content, high in fibre, alkaline forming, low glycemic index (great for people watching their blood sugar level).
Banana: High in potassium, good source of fibre, potassium, manganese and energy (great for pre-workout).
Cucumber: Low in saturated fat, sodium and cholestrol. Good source of vitamin C, A, K and potassium.
The purpose of using banana is just to give the smoothie a hint of sweetness without overpowering the natural taste of the smoothie itself. If you want it to be an all-green smoothie, feel free to omit the banana and substitute with honey, stevia or agave nectar instead 🙂
